HIV Care Services (HIVCS), a program of Public Health Solutions, is composed of 70+ staff who work collaboratively and under contract with, the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (NYCDOHMH) to administer approximately $130 million in federal and City-funded HIV/AIDS care and prevention funding.
- HIVCS manages over $100 million in Ryan White Part A funding through more than 200 contracts with more than 150 hospitals, clinics and community-based organizations for direct services to people living with HIV/AIDS.
- Care services funded include:
- primary and specialty medical care, including HIV/AIDS medications through the AIDS Drug Assistance Program (ADAP)
- mental health services
- care coordination and treatment adherence
- food and nutrition services
- housing
- substance abuse services
- supportive counseling
- legal advocacy
- HIV testing
- HIVCS manages over 100 HIV/AIDS Prevention contracts funded through NYCDOHMH CDC and City Tax Levy dollars.
- Prevention services funded include:
- syringe exchange programs
- condom distribution
- behavioral interventions
- HIV testing
- anti-stigma campaigns
- screening for co-factors of HIV transmission
- non-occupational post-exposure prophylaxis(NPEP)
- HIVCS issues Requests for Proposals for HIV care and prevention services on behalf of the NYCDOHMH
- HIVCS negotiates contract terms, issues payments and monitors contracts through review of monthly reports and periodic site visits
- HIVCS compiles reports for funders on service utilization, grant spending and contract performance.
